Welcome to New Britain Judo and Dynamic Arts
New Britain Judo and Dynamic Arts is a martial arts school (dojo) that offers classes in competitive Judo and Kickboxing. In addition to the above classes, students will be exposed to elements and techniques from Aikido and Wrestling. Our school is a member of USA Judo which is the governing body of Judo in the United States, as well as Connecticut Judo Inc.
Today, New Britain Judo and Dynamic Arts is run almost exclusively by former students of Sandy Sanderson. Our instructors are all volunteers who dedicate their time for the love of martial arts. We have traveled all over the United States as well as Canada and Puerto Rico with our students to compete and train. Many of our students have attained success at local, national and international levels of competition with several of them attaining national rankings in their respective weight classes. In 2015 we had the honor of having one of our students qualify and compete at the Pan American Judo Championships in Argentina.
Sandy sanderson
Sandy is a veteran of the Korean War, and studied martial arts while stationed overseas. After returning home from the war he began teaching Judo, Aikido, and Hapkido. Sandy is an accomplished martial artist attaining a 7th degree black belt in Judo, Jujitsu, and Aikido. He also created a style of mixed martial arts he called “Infighting” which combined various techniques of the individual martial arts he had studied. Over the years Sandy taught countless disadvantaged youths not only martial arts, but how to be a good citizen. Many of these students grew up to pursue careers in law enforcement, corrections, nursing, and the armed forces.
Our mission is to provide a safe environment where our students can learn and compete at an international level in Judo and Kickboxing. In doing so, we strive to instill in them humility, discipline, selflessness, and a strong sense of community.
classes
We offer classes for children ages 5 and up as well as teens and adults. We have classes Monday – Saturday, and also travel regularly to nearby schools that we have built relationships with to expose our students to new training partners.
